Debt Recovery

Debt Recovery

Unpaid invoices and outstanding contractual sums can disrupt cash flow and consume management time. We assist individuals and businesses in recovering debts while considering the cost, evidence and practical prospects of each proposed step.

More about Debt Recovery

  • Our work begins with reviewing the agreement, invoices, statements of account, correspondence and payment history: We assess the basis of the claim, the amount said to be due and any dispute or defence raised by the other party. We may then prepare a letter of demand, respond to a proposed repayment arrangement or negotiate terms for settlement. Where an agreement is reached, we can record the payment schedule and consequences of default in writing.

Core Elements of Debt Recovery

  • If payment cannot be resolved through correspondence or negotiation: We advise on the appropriate legal proceedings. The route depends on the nature of the debt, the available documents and the circumstances of the debtor. We also advise clients who have received a demand and dispute the amount claimed. At each stage, we aim to give clients a realistic understanding of the steps, likely costs and available means of securing payment.

Questions You May Wonder?

Gather the agreement, invoices, delivery records, statement of account and correspondence. We assess whether the debt is due, any dispute raised and the available recovery options, which may begin with a letter of demand or negotiations.

No. A letter of demand formally sets out the claim and requests payment, but the debtor may dispute it or fail to respond. We then advise whether further negotiations or legal proceedings are appropriate.
